Ally Yusufu Mugenzi is a Hutu with Tutsi blood in his family tree.
He comes from Ndatemwa in Commune Rukara of Umutara Prefecture (formerly Commune Murambi of Byumba Prefecture).
He works in the Great Lakes Section for the BBC World Service. For four years leading to the genocide, he was working as a stringer for BBC Swahili Service in Kigali.
