Albert Einstein (March 14, 1879 – April 18, 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who is famous for his contributions to modern physics, most notably for formulating the theories of general relativity and special relativity that rationalized the laws of physics that govern the universe. His formula for mass–energy equivalence, E=mc^2, was first introduced in 1905 and became intrinsically linked with him.

Einstein appears in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "9001: A Mario Odyssey", where he is referred to as Mr. Albert Einstein, or just Einstein, also nicknamed Al or the Einster. Here, he is a computer programmer who invented the HAL 9001 computer and pizza machine for Mario and Luigi. Although he is confident that the HAL 9001 is near-perfect, he is unable to predict the dire consequences that arise when he leaves the computer with the Mario Bros.
